Beginning Preschool Reading

During Casa dei Bambini Montessori's circle time Preschool & Pre- Kindergarten children are exposed to remarkable literature and receive great books to read.

Children are first introduced to Insets to practice drawing.   These figures of geometry mimic the design shapes, lines, and angles in every letter of the alphabet.  By tracing children train their minds and hands to form letters and correctly hold a pencil.

Preschoolers touch sandpaper letters while saying the phonetic sound of each letter.  With the moveable alphabet children learn how to blend sounds and correctly sound out words.

Preschool children are very interested in small objects.  These small phonetic objects are used in exercises to build words with a "moveable alphabet."  Children then match words and objects.  The cycle repeats itself with longer phonetic words developing confidence and vocabulary.

Later, preschool children are exposed to basic grammar rules through use of materials that include a farm set, and other various games.
